Payment Policy
Family Physicians of Arlington strives to give
every patient the time and attention they need and deserve. In
order to accomplish this we have decided not
to participate in any insurance plans except Medicare.
However, any person who chooses to come to our office
is welcome. Our fees are reasonable and reflect a balance between
the costs of delivering personalized care and affordability. Patients
with insurance with an out-of-plan option (PPO, POS) will find
a good portion of our fee reimbursable. Please contact our office
for details.
When
a physician contracts with an insurance company it is very costly.
Overhead is increased due to increased staffing requirements for
billing, and, in addition, insurance companies dramatically reduce
reimbursement to the physician. Most physician practices try to
make up for this increased overhead and revenue shortfall by increasing
the number of patients seen. This often results in "assembly-line"
medicine, inadequate charting and telephone communications systems,
and frazzled doctors with frustrated patients. We have chosen
to reject that model to enable us to give each person individualized
attention and easy access to care.
Payment
We are currently in the process of establishing electronic billing capabilities. When implemented,
we will file for must insurance plans electronically at the time of service. Patients will be
responsible for any balance after 30 days. In the interim, until this system is in place, we request
payment at the time of service for physician services. We will be happy to mail your insurance claim
for you so that it can be processed ASAP.
Unfortunately, Dr. Schwartz's
practice is closed to new Medicare patients at this time.
Patients with HMO coverage and those without
insurance are welcome to our practice, but they will not be able
to be reimbursed by their plans.
